BVI: The quick work of officers of the Virgin Gorda Police Station led to the recovery of well over $5,000 worth of jewelry and the arrest of three persons.
A resident of Gun Creek reported early last week that her residence was broken into over the night. Police immediately followed up the report with a search warrant on a residence in North Sound and recovered all the stolen jewelry in addition to other items which are yet to be identified.
As a result, 40-year-old Jeenesh Banthia, a native of India, 33-year-old Kimo Creque and 33 Darrell Stevens, all residents of North Sound, were charged with Handling Stolen Goods. A charge of burglary may be preferred at a later day.
Inspector Leslie Spencer of the Virgin Gorda Policing Division commended the officers for their quick action in response to this incident.
“It is good police work when we are able to apprehend criminals, but it is great police work when we are able to also recover the stolen goods. I commend the Officers for achieving both in this operation,” he said.
