Businessman fouls attempted robbery

Georgetown: Patrick De Freitas was today confronted by two men, who were armed with a spade and a cutlass; after the businessman was awaken by noises on his premises at Waterloo Street, Georgetown, at about 01:30hrs.

De Freitas, who is a licensed firearm holder, discharged rounds hitting one of the men in his right thigh and the other in his left thigh. The men have been identified as 50-year-old Steve Anthony, of Grove Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara and 41-year-old Carlos Grant, of Charlotte Street, Georgetown.

The men are currently under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation as police investigations continue.
