Georgetown: Businessman Surendra Persaud of Strathspey, ECD, was alerted by the sound of breaking glass at his business place situated on the lower flat of his home early this morning.
He armed himself with his licensed firearm and confronted three men who were attempting to break into the premises, discharging rounds at them in the process. The men managed to escape, however a trail of blood was seen leading in the direction of their escape.Subsequent investigations by the police led to the apprehension of a suspect who had been shot to his abdomen and is under guard at the GPHC.
A steel cutter was recovered at the scene by the police.
