Cabinet approved Minimum wage workers salary increase

Georgetown : Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon disclosed that the Government has approved an increase of salary for certain categories of minimum wage workers effective from June 01, 2012.

He said that the categories of workers that stand to benefit from the increases include: watchmen and workers from petroleum stations, hospitality (hotels, restaurants, bars) and mechanical transportation sectors, printers, and saw mill factories, timber grants, grocery, hardware, dry goods and drug stores and contract employees.

The last such increase was four years ago after consultation with the tripartite body at the Ministry of Labour which includes Government, the private sector, and organised labour unions.
