Georgetown: The issue of an increase in tuition fees at the University of Guyana is still before Cabinet.
This is according to Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger luncheon, who was responding to questions from the media about the government’s position on this matter, following a recent announcement by UG’’s Vice Chancellor, Jacob Opadeyi.
Dr. Luncheon noted that there is a perception that if the fees are adjusted upwards in the absence of government scholarship, many will be affected.
The Vice Chancellor recently announced that plans are in the pipeline to increase tuition fees.
He said that the current 127,000 dollar per academic year is “lessons fee” compared to what obtains at other universities.
