Soesdyke Linden Highway : Guyanese and visitors braved the weather and enjoyed a day of thrills as the Guyana Motor Racing and Sport Club ran off their first leg of the 2011 motor racing extravaganza which saw mixed fortunes on a resurfaced track yesterday.
Guyana’s Kevin Jeffery dominated two of three group 4 races leaving veteran ace driver Andrew King with two fourth places. Jeffery did not take part in the last group 4 race leaving way for Paul Vieira to take the checkered flag and King earned himself a second place.
Trinidadian Ravi Singh took advantage to the new resurfaced track and copped all three first places in the group 3.
In the super bike category Canadian Kevin Graham took the spectators to their heels with two wins before an unfortunate collision with Carlos Rodriges leaving Steven Vieira to take the checkered flag for the first time for the day.
TrakkerNews understands that Guyana’s top driver Andrew King RX 7 was not in top condition and he only did a surgery to his left hand a month ago, nevertheless turned out to compete with the local and international drivers. Season competitor Mark Vieira was not in the lineup since his Mazda is overseas upgrading.
Stalwart Ford driver Jad Rahaman also did not take part in yesterday’s meet.
