Berbice : Daveanand Singh is listed stable in hospital today after being treated for chop wounds. Singh, a resident of Bath Settlement, Berbice, was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital late yesterday afternoon with chop wounds to his head and other parts of his body.
According to reports, Singh and his two alleged attackers were working as cane harvesters in the backdam at approximately 04:15h on Wednesday when an argument ensued between the three men. Singh, a 27 year old married father of one, was then chopped about his face, head, throat, back and ears. He collapsed immediately,and was picked up by an unidentified person and rushed to the health institution where he is said to be in stable condition.
Singh is reportedly the uncle of one of his alleged attackers who goes by the name of "Hardo". The other man, who was also allegedly involved in the brutal attack, was identified only as “Twist”. The two suspects have since been arrested,and are assisting with the investigations.
