Berbice: A post mortem examination on Thursday on the body of Bibi Shameena Deen by Pathologist Dr Vivekanand Bridgemohan gave the cause of death as shock and haemorrhage due to gunshot injuries, laceration to the brain and a fractured skull.
Deen's body was found in her home at Canefield, Berbice on Tuesday, March 20, with wounds about her body. Police are still hunting for Deen’s U.S. based husband, who allegedly killed her before fleeing the scene Tuesday night.
Ramdhanie Persaud, called “Prakash”, is wanted by the police for questioning in relation to the murder. Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Persaud aka “Prakash” is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers: 333-2191, 333-2151, 226-1326, 225-2227, 225-8196, 225-6411, 911 or the nearest police station.
According to Deen's neighbours they heard cries for help, but when they eventually realised what had happened, they found her lying face down in a pool of blood near to a bed. There were also reports of three gunshot-like sounds going off at the deceased’s house. According to the Deen's brother the man was charged for assaulting his sister in January, and was placed on one year’s bond by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo.
His lawyer, Charrandass Persaud, pleaded with the court to be lenient since his wife had forgiven him, and they have reconciled. The quarrel then was the unaccountability of monies sent home by Persaud for the upkeep of his wife and two sons.
