East Bank Demerara :The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on the Public Road at Garden of Eden, EBD, and which resulted in the death of motorist Elias Augustus of Long Creek, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
22 year old Elias Augustus was driving motor car PLL 9283 when he attempted to overtake mini-bus BLL 8333 and was confronted by motor lorry GNN 5714 which was proceeding in the opposite direction. Augustus attempted to swerve from the motor lorry and collided with the mini-bus which turned turtle and also collided with the motor lorry.
As a result of the collision Elias Augustus, the driver of the mini-bus Clive Bagot, 28 years of Soesdyke, EBD, and four passengers of the mini-bus received injuries. They were taken to the Georgetown Hospital where Elias Augustus later succumbed to his injuries.
Clive Bagot and two of the passengers were treated and sent away while Taramattie Sookram, 41 years of Madewini, EBD, and Oudit Jettoo, 57 years of Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, have been admitted.
