Georgetown: Vincent Barkley, 42, of Norton Street, Lodge was killed on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown after he was struck down by motorcar PKK 5970 Thursday morning. The man was riding on his bicycle at the time of the accident.
The car driver, 28-year old Ryan Roberts of Hadfield Street, Lodge, was arrested and taken into police custody.
Reports revealed that the man’s body was flung several feet onto the parapet after the motorcar slammed into him. The car then turned turtle after the collision.
The body was taken to Lyken Funeral Parlour.
Barkley, a father of four young children, was heading home after conducting his routine morning prayers at a nearby Masjid.
According one eyewitness, Barkley’s twisted body was hurled onto a nearby parapet while the mangled car landed on its roof in a wash bay on Mandela Avenue.
Both Barclay and Roberts were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where Barclay was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) and Roberts was treated and sent away.
Barkley’s family was told that his legs and hands along with a few ribs were broken. A Post Mortem Examination is expected to soon be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.
Roberts is currently in Police custody at the East La Penitence Police Station assisting with the ongoing investigations.
