The High Court has ruled that the suspension of cardiologists Dr Richard Ishmael by the board of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) was unlawful.
Ishmael one of the country's leading cardiologists was placed on a month's suspension after he had sent a in November that year to the Director of Medical Services of the QEH Dr Delores Lewis making comments about heart specialist Dr Alfred Sparman and then Minister of Health Donville Inniss. The suspension was lifted after two weeks.
Ishmael was awarded “nominal damages” of $5 000.
