Georgetown: This year’s finals of the CARIB SOCA MONARCH will now see 18 contestants, including reigning MONARCH Jomo ‘Rubber waist’ Primo, competing for the coveted title.
Due to inclement weather on the night of the semi-finals in Berbice, a unanimous decision was taken to have the competition called off and it was agreed that all the contestants would go through to the finals which is slated for Saturday 16th, February, 2013 at the National Park.
It is now expected with this grand melee the competition will be fierce as the contestants have pledged to bring their A-Game.
Coordinator of the event, Nigel Worrell said that with the number of contestants in the finals he can assure Soca fans it will be a night to remember filled with sweet soca music.
Worrell also informed that, CARIB will be launching its spectacular ‘Mash Band’ during the interval of the show which he assured will not disappoint CARIB Revelers.
The contestants are; Adrian Dutchin with ‘Jook’, Anthony Abrams with ‘Pose’, Colbert Dublin with ‘Shaking it’, Compton Boyce with ‘We don’t know’, Dwayne Semple with ‘More Wuk Up’, Ernesta Nelson with ‘Twirl’, Jamal Gittens with ‘Big belly vs Bumpa’, James Gordon with ‘Soca Mascara’, Jermaine MacBeen with “Storm d road’, Johnathan King with ‘Never Stop’, Roger Bowen with ‘Looking fuh bumper’, Kwesi Edmondson with ‘Same thing’, Shondel London with ‘Hard Wuk’, Rawleston Warde with ‘Invasion’, Melissa Roberts & Wilbur Levans with “Tear de roof’, Orlando Johansen with “Done them’, Quacy Jones with ‘Work it’ and Jumo Primo with ‘Fireworks’.
The first prize remains One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars, with Five Hundred Thousand and Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars for the second and third place prizes respectively. In addition, there will be a People’s Choice Award prize.
