Jamaica: The Caribbean Tourism Summit will be held from June 15-16 and is being organised by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), the Barbados-based Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and the Jamaica Government; and a wide range of issues affecting the sector including a review of the existing airlift into and within the Caribbean will be discussed, according to a CMC report.
The CHTA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and the organisers said that the two-day forum is open to all tourism and hospitality industry personnel in the region.
The CMC report said that among the topics to be discussed are the international aviation policy and its impact on Caribbean tourism, a review of the existing airlift and projections for future development and whether or not Caribbean hotels are being upstaged by competitors from the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia.
The Caribbean Tourism Summit will also feature the presentation of coveted industry awards including Caribbean Employee of the Year, Caribbean Supervisor of the Year, Caribbean Allied Member of the Year, Caribbean Association Executive of the Year and Caribbean Hotelier of the Year, the CMC report stated.
