The CARICOM’s Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) this morning launched its 23rd gathering with a heavy focus on Youth.
This year’s event saw a presentation from the CARICOM Youth Ambassador Corps.
Dean of the CARICOM Youth Ambassador Corps, Dwayne Gutzmer told the gathering that the Princess International Hotel in Guyana that, “young people need to be involved from the beginning, not at the end.”
He was speaking to the decision making process for the policies by the CARICOM Leaders, which will inevitably filter down to the youth.
Gutzmer, told the Regional Ministers that youths need to be looked at not as a problem but rather must be involved in the decision making process.
“Time for action,” said Gutzmer, “not a bag of mouth,” as he reminded of the Jamaican parlance and said that the youths of CARICOM are “ready to lead, we are ready to act.”
The meeting is being chaired by Guyana’s Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Dr Frank Anthony, who reminded that” there can be no compromise in charting a brighter future for our children.”
