Georgetown– The President’s recent comments at the Annual Army Conference about the arrest of Bouterse, never mentioned that he was asked by the United States to do so. The President’s exact words were: "I heard talk off arresting Suriname’s President Desi Bouterse whenever he comes here, I said no I will not arrest Bouterse, let whoever want to arrest him do it, Bouterse in the legitimate leader of the Suriname’s people and we have to work with him".
Georgetown- The police last evening issued a wanted bulletin for a 38 year old carpenter Sven Niles, who they believe has information on the murder of detective constable Igris Bobb Blackman . Blackman’s bound and battered body was discovered in a septic tank at his home in Parfait Harmonie West Bank Demerara. The police said that the wanted man may have been in the house the same day the body was discovered.
Georgetown– The Police investigates the sudden drive by shooting at the home of International recording artiste Jomo Primo. A number of spent shells were recovered at the scene as residents of Joseph Pollydore street, Lodge are still fearful of what transpired. Reports are that about eight gunshots rang and as people peeped out they saw a car speeding away from in front of Primo’s residence. When contacted the artiste said that he could not be the target since he has no problems with anyone, yet the gunmen opened fire at his home.
Georgetown- Two sisters are nursing gunshot wound at the Georgetown hospital, one is said to be in critical condition. The relative who opened fire on them fled the scene with his children in a car. The police is on the hunt to locate him. TrakkerNews understands that the husband Malvin Taylor shot his wife Sharon Taylor in the chest at close range after accusing her of having an extra marital affair with another man. In the process he shot the woman’s sister Michelle Richards in the face. The police who responded quickly to the scene at Quamina street went in search of Taylor.
Georgetown– Intensive debates on the 2011 National Budget with a size of $161.4B have been heating up since they kicked off on last Monday but President Bharrat Jagdeo is not too impressed in the way in which they have been conducted.
Georgetown-The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 2045h. last night at Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast, during which accounts clerk Anil Durga and his reputed wife were attacked and robbed by three masked men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators entered the home through an open door and held up the victims who were tied up with duct tape.
The men then ransacked the building and took away a quantity of artificial jewellery, a cell phone and $20US currency and escaped.
