Man shoots wife and sister-in-law following heated argument.
Georgetown- Two sisters are nursing gunshot wound at the Georgetown hospital, one is said to be in critical condition. The relative who opened fire on them fled the scene with his children in a car. The police is on the hunt to locate him. TrakkerNews understands that the husband Malvin Taylor shot his wife Sharon Taylor in the chest at close range after accusing her of having an extra marital affair with another man. In the process he shot the woman’s sister Michelle Richards in the face. The police who responded quickly to the scene at Quamina street went in search of Taylor.

A building is now ablaze in downtown Port of Spain.
Firefighters are trying to control the fire burning the Gillette hardware at the corner of George Street and Independence Square.
The hardware is located near a main entrance to the city and the fire is causing a huge traffic pile up.
The cause of the fire which started about an hour ago is still uncertain..
Essequibo family attacked and robbed by masked men
Georgetown-The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 2045h. last night at Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast, during which accounts clerk Anil Durga and his reputed wife were attacked and robbed by three masked men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators entered the home through an open door and held up the victims who were tied up with duct tape.
The men then ransacked the building and took away a quantity of artificial jewellery, a cell phone and $20US currency and escaped.
Man gets 3 years for trafficking in narcotics
Linden– Patrick Philander of Victory Valley, Wismar, and Rennison Moore, 23 years of Wismar, Linden today appeared before Magistrate Ms. Ann Mc Lennon at the Christiansburg Magistrate Court on charges of trafficking in narcotics.
Rennison Moore pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $405,000.00, while Patrick Philander pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison.

Georgetown- The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) commenced a two-day Training Session which was designed specifically for the selection of Managers and Field Staff to work during the Claims and Objections exercise in preparation for the General and Regional Elections – 2011. According to a release from Gecom, the training session, which is being implemented at the Registration Areas level commenced on January 22-23, 2011, and catered for the training of persons to work within the Wismar , Mackenzie and East Bank Demerara Registration Areas.
Bandits break in vehicle at popular business spot- getaway car caught on surveilance camera.
Industrial site Ruimveldt– Three bandits just after 14hrs. today broke into a vehicle belonging to a Canadian citizen in front of the popular National Hardware Supercentre located at Industrial site Ruimveldt. The car PMM 2832 AT 192 Carina was caught on the company’s surveilance camera, when the men made good their escape. They stole three bags from the vehicle containing bank cheques, the Canadian’s passport and other valuable electronics. Within half hour of the robbery, the Canadian Iqbal Dawud, got a call from a man named Shawn who claimed to be a taxi driver.
