Foreign Minister calls on international partners to honour trade pledges
Bridgetown Barbados: Barbados Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Maxine McClean made a plea to the international community to honour its commitment to provide more support Barbados and other developing countries to pursue their trade agenda.
Senator McClean made the plea at a three day forum on Aid for Trade for the Caribbean at the Accra Hotel in Barbados.

Georgetown – Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, President Bharrat Jagdeo wants the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) to be more aware of the battles at the global level.
Minister Persaud tells National Assembly “2011 Budget belongs to Guyanese”
Georgetown – Minister of Agriculture, Robert Persaud last evening said that Guyana is recognised as a global player in issues such as climate change, notwithstanding the size of its economy and population. He was at the time addressing members of the National Assembly during then second day of the 2011 budget debate.
Irate woman who destroyed her home by fire last year in Plaisance, smashes ex husband’s car.
Georgetown – The troubles continue for a Plaisance family at the hands of Denise Monroe who was arrested in October 2010 for torching her home and repeated threats to take her own life. TrakkerNews was at the scene of the fire last year when relatives told us that Monroe was suffering from mental troubles after her husband left the home. She was arrested and placed under observation by the authorities who held her in custody for 2 months until her release in December 2010.

President calls on soldiers to operate within fiscal sustainability- GDF Annual Conference.
GDF Headquarters, Georgetown- In congratulating the Guyana Defence Force for the progress in efficiency, budgeting and standing orders, the President said his Government will continue to capitalize the army and urged members to examine the growth of expenditure over the past decade. The Commander in chief added ; "We have progressively increased the budget of the army every year and expect that all will operate within the confines of fiscal sustainability".
“No I will not arrest Desi Bouterse if he comes here”- Jagdeo
Camp Ayangana Georgetown- In a statement that puts him on the spot and the media barred from listening in, President Bharrat Jagdeo said that he will not arrest Surinamese President Desi Bouterse, in the wake of wikileaks about his involvement in drug links with convicted Guyanese drug dealer Roger Khan. Speaking at the opening conference of the Guyana Defense Force this morning, Jagdeo commented on the issue following a question from an army personnel.
Minister Webster says PPP/C moved Guyana from bankruptcy to debt sustainability.
Georgetown – Minister within the Ministry of Finance, Jennifer Webster said that over the past five years, the PPP/C administration has striven to deliver the budget as early as possible into the New Year.
CARICOM Secretariat Extends Assistance to Guyanese Stakeholders in Implementation of EPA
Georgetown -The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Implementation Unit of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat is set to collaborate with the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) for a second time, this year, in the delivery of a training seminar. Scheduled to begin on 25 January in Georgetown, Guyana, the two-day undertaking is directed at customs brokers in Guyana.
