Changes coming at hospital

Bridgetown.

A major shake up is on the cards for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

Minister of  Health, Donville Inniss told Trakker News that the move is intended to put the lid on the financial discrepancies and administrative hiccups there.

Inniss stated that since the management structure of the QEH had changed in 2005, there had not been a single published audited financial statement as required by law.

"I have instructed the board of management to review the management structure, both in terms of administration and the clinical aspects", Inninis said.

"With regard to the finances, we have hired two major accounting firms to conduct a audit .So far they have uncovered an uncomfortable situation of great concern to the board and myself. This is not only about infelicities, but deficiencies in the current system", he added.

He made clear that if the finances of the QEH were not properly addressed, then health care would be compromised.
