Georgetown: Following the expulsion of former Alliance for Change (AFC) member, Charrandas Persaud recently, the coalition government on Thursday appointed Barbara Patricia Pilgrim to fill that vacant position.
Ms. Pilgrim took the oath before speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Barton Scotland to serve as Member of Parliament in the National Assembly
Pilgrim’s appointment to the National Assembly is a departure from Cummingsburg agreement between the APNU and the AFC since the AFC is to have 12 seats in the House.
Persaud who voted in favour of the Opposition sponsored no-confidence motion saw the motion being carried and the Government falling.
