Chase-Green appointed Acting City Deputy Mayor

Georgetown: An Acting Deputy Mayor has been appointed to the City of Georgetown in the person of seasoned City Councillor Patricia Chase-Green.  The move was the result of a unanimous decision by the municipality yesterday and represented the first motion to be passed at the municipality’s statutory meeting for this year.

Chase-Green’s appointment sees her replacing Robert Williams who has been hospitalized, reportedly with a heart condition since last year. He has held the position for almost a decade and despite his illness had not resigned thus the position of Deputy Mayor is currently vacant.  The position of Deputy Mayor, like that of Mayor, can only be filled following Local Government Elections.

Williams also holds the position of Chairman of the Finance Committee, a position which has been assumed by another Councillor, Junior Garret, following a similar motion.
