Chief Medical Officer appointed chairman of WHO board

Bridgetown.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Joy St John, has been appointed chairman of the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The main functions of the Executive Board are to give effect to the decisions and policies of the  World Health Assembly, to advise it and to facilitate its work.

St John told the media while she had to be neutral as the chairman of the Executive Board of the WHO, Barbados and the wider Caribbean  will be adequately represented at WHO meetings.
