The child of a prisoner is six times more likely to end up in prison, this was statistic was revealed by acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Care, Donna Cadogan.
Speaking at the launch of the Barbados Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree Ceremony at the Barbados Public Workers Co-operative Credit Union yesterday evening.
Cadogan said there was a need to look at the experiences of children of inmates to see what gives them the a greater propensity than other children for running afoul of the law.
"The restoration of godly value values to the home can assist in this regard.Children should be taught the core values that have kept us thus far as a nation", Cadogan said.
