Bridgetown: President of the Barbados National Council of Parent Teacher Inc Rhonda Blackman says that school children were referring to various areas of their body as food items.
"You will hear children talking about eating pizza and parents may think it is pizza from Chefette but if you ask them, they tell you it is a body part. This is where the concern lies," says Blackman.
Blackman said the development not only proved that students were being exposed to content not meant for them but also the need for more parents to pay attention to their children.
"I bring it all back down to parenting. We find that the language has changed and it is all because of the values in the society that have changed. The language that the children are now using is a cause for concern," Blackman said.
"I want to tell parents they need to get savvy with the language is being used today," she added.
