City Council to provide Linden Municipality with training services

IMG_1028 (1)Georgetown: The Georgetown City Council has committed to proving training to the officers of the Linden Municipality in several critical areas which will include City Policing and Human Resource Management, according to May and City Council Public Relation Officer (ag) Debra Lewis.

 Lewis said a team of Senior Officers of the Linden Municipality headed by the Town Clerk Miss. Jonellor Bowen, met recently with Town Clerk of Georgetown Mr. Royston King and other Senior Officers of the Georgetown Municipality. 

She explained that the purpose of the visit was to discuss areas of partnerships between the two Councils that would help to build the capacity of the Linden Municipality, so that it can deliver better quality services to the citizens of Linden.

The Town Clerk of Linden said that she has observed the advancement of the Georgetown Municipality in a number of critical areas and is cognizant that Linden can learn from the programmes implemented by the Georgetown Municipality.

The City Clerk Royston King noted that in the past the Linden Municipality benefited for training organized and implemented by the Georgetown Municipality; these included the training of Environmental Health Assistants and City Constables.

King reiterated that the Georgetown Municipality is ready to provide the necessary support. The City Administrator stated that he sees this opportunity to provide support to the Linden Town Council as an extension of the Georgetown City Council’s civic responsibility to its sister Municipality and to the Citizens of Guyana.  

In addition, the Georgetown Municipality has resuscitated the Bicycle Patrol Unit, and has established a Traffic Management Unit and Anti- litter Unit within the City Constabulary. Also, the two Municipalities have agreed to have exchange programmes, were officers of both Municipalities would be placed on attachments in several areas these include the City Constabulary and the Personnel Section.

The Officers of the Linden Municipality were taken on a tour to have a look at the operations of the City Constabulary Department.
