One in every six civil servants in Barbados have a drinking problem, this was reveal in a recent study conducted by the National Council of Substance Abuse (NCSA).
Research and information officer with the NCSA Jonathan Yearwood said:"What we found out that four out of ten public sector employees would have been users of alchol, compared with a national survey done in 2006, which showed that just about three out of ten persons would have users of alcohol".
"More particularly we, measured for binge drinking, which is the consumption of five or more alcholic beverages of five or more alcoholic beverages within a two hour period,and we found that approximately 15 percent of employees would have been engaged in binge drinking," he added.
Yearwood was speaking to journalists during the break of a workshop for stakeholders of the Barbados Drug Information Network, yesterday at the Accra Beach Hotel.
