The Civil Service in Barbados is too large and must be trimmed, this is the view of former Central Bank Governor Sir Courtney Blackman.
"In 2001, I suggested that the Civil Service be reduced but that advise was not heeded and in fact it was increased, so now the situation is wrose than it was then So now have a Civil Service of about 28,000", say Sir Courtney.
Just as he did ten years ago, Sir Courtney is advocating attrition rather than lay offs. Sir Courtney said he was happy to see some action had been taken on pushing entrepreneurship which he had also recommemded.
