Georgetown: Police Commissioner Leslie James on Monday warned civilians, particularly road users that the Force will be coming after them in an effort to put a stop to corruption.
Offering a bribe to a policeman is an offence. The commissioner said the chronic complaint of “police taking bribes” has to stop and will stop when an end is also put to the “offer of a bribe.”
Commissioner James stressed that “every bribe results from an offer” noting that with “no offer there will be no acceptance”.
With this in mind, the commissioner is strategising on a particular exercise, which he said will target both the people offering and police taking bribes.
He reminded the ranks that they were made aware of the remuneration before they decided to take the job.
The commissioner said if ranks are not comfortable with their salaries, they should leave the job.
The top Cop was at the time addressing a training seminar for station managers.
He told those gathered that he wants to see a marked change in police force, particularly, the traffic department.
