Port-of-Spain: A commission of inquiry into the collapse of CL Financial, Clico and the Hindu Credit Union began in Port-of-Spain this morning.
When the proceedings started, Senior Counsel Russel Martineau sought to ensure that measures are put in place to address delays in getting witnesses to testify. Addressing the commission, Martineau, who represents auditors Price Waterhouse Coopers, suggested that there is a need to ensure that persons deemed important to the proceedings are available, saying if not, this could impact on the inquiry’s success.
Sole commissioner Sir Anthony Coleman says measures would be put in place to ensure those deemed of interest to the inquiry are given sufficient notice. A witness list has not yet been put together but Martineau also appealed to the commission to ensure that this is done in a timely manner to ensure proper cross examination of witnesses is possible.
