According to former attorney General Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, SC, Clico’s policyholders have no intentions of giving up the fight to get their monies, which is owed to them by Clico. Last Tuesday Justice Joan Charles ruled that 250 persons must be refunded the full value of their policies which amounts to over $300 million.
The promise to pay the full amount to policyholders was made by the previous administration the PNM. However the present Government is not fulfilling this promise, and believe they should be entitled to about 80 per cent instead. But the policyholders are willing to challenge any Court ruling that is handed down to them.
