Georgetown: Trakkernews was reliably informed that President Bharrat Jagdeo in his capacity as Minister of Information refused to accept an apology from the Sharmas yesterday in a meeting to decide the fate of channel 6. CN Sharma and his wife SavitreeSingh met with the Attorney General Charles Ramson and President Jagdeo. The outcome of the meeting was not in the Sharmas favour as the President was dead set on shutting the channel down for the next 6 months. This decision is expected to take effect anytime soon. The Sharmas are not speaking to the press at this time. The channel was found to be in breach of certain regulation as it regard libel against a prominent individual. Comments were made by ex tv owner Anthony Veira on the channel a few months ago. The Advisory Committee on Broadcasting was involved in the investigation but was stopped from proceeding further due to a High Court ruling. Bishop Juan Edghil to whom the damaging comments were directed sued the channel and Tony Veira for 50 million dollars in damages.
