Rodney Simpson, the co-ordinator of the West Indies Women Softball Cricket Championship was arrested on the eve of this year’s tournament, causing yesterday’s scheduled start to be pushed back by a day.
Simpson was preparing to participate in the annual Terry Mayers Memorial Cricket Match between the Media and Entertainers at Meadow Road Playing Field, Pinelands, St Michael, last Thursday night when he was taken into custody by policemen accompanied by a bailiff.
According to an eyewitness sorrowful looking Simpson was handcuffed to one of the police officers while another held the back of his pants and took him into a police van.
