Coast Guard officers charged with manslaugther

Bridgetown.

Three members of the Barbados  Coast Guard were charged with manslaughter when they appeared in the Bridgetown Traffic Court before Magistrate Douglas Frederick  yesterday afternoon.

Shem Jonathon Chapman, 21, of Third Avenue, Alleyne Land, Bush Hall, St Michael, Romero Alxander Gaskin, 21. of Third Avenue, Inch Cape Terrace, Wellhouse, St Philip and Corey Andre Broomes, 31, of Upper Black Rock, St Michael were not required to plead to unlawfully killing 47 year old Vincentian national Percival Louie in the sea off the St James' coast on  April 22, this year.

Magistrate Frederick confiscated the passports of three men and released them on $50,000 bail each.

They will return to the court on October 31.
