The Barbados Coast Guard is searching for the MV Halo which has disappeared at sea with 16 people on board.
A Coast Guard official told Trakker News the boat caught fire forcing those aboard to abandon ship.
Its last known position was at 1:10 pm yesterday, at that time the boat was approximately 104 nautical miles south east of Woman's Bay, Barbados. The vessel was last sited by the Trinidad & Tobago Air Guard with no sign of life.
A Coast Guard team led by Lieutenant Derrick Brathwaite on the HMBS Rudyard Lewis is currently at sea as they carry out a search and rescue mission.
