Georgetown: The state-owned power company GPL is forced to source at least 5 Caterpillar engines to sustain a relaible supply of power for the next few months.The company is faced with the problem of continued maintenance to it's generating sets which are currently out of operation. GPL is hoping that by mid year a 15.2 megawatts Caterpillar set will come on stream to help with the serious demand for electricity. For years the power company grappled with the issue of unreliable supply and shortfalls in it's operations. During the past decade the company boosted it's capacity with a number of generating sets, yet the problems exists. The company's management explained that the rising cost of fuel is also a serious factor affecting it's operation.
