Georgetown – Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon said that the government is disgusted over the delay of the US$15M Amaila Falls Road Project.
In responding to a question as to the reason for the project delay, the cabinet secretary said the design and clause of the contract should make the contractor Makashwar Fip Motilall even more concerned since the penalties are quite significant.
He noted that the contractor will have to deliver or the Government will enforce strict penalty for not meeting the stipulated date.
The road project is expected to pave the way for the construction of the hydro electric plant.
Following a series of meetings with Government, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the developers and the government on May 23, 2006, outlining the agreement to proceed with the development of the project.
The Amaila site is located on the Kuribrong River.
