Five convicted murderers could be released from Her Majesty's Prison Dodds before the end of the year, after being incarcerated for over 30 years.
The local Privy Council had been reviewing the cases of Hallam Benjamin, Malcolm Forde, Clifford Boxill, Anderson Foster and Patrick Greaves whose death sentences had been commuted to life in prison.
According to a source, the convicts scheduled to be released were among the longest serving inmates at HMP Dodds and had all successfully participated in rehabilitation programmes.
Last year, two convicted murderers Frank Carter and Antthony Austin were released after serving over 25 years in prison.
Last Wednesday, Michael Talyor who was convicted and sentenced to hang for the murder of an elderly woman at the age of 17 was freed after being in jail for 28 years.
