Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Aston Hall, St Peter, was hit by copper thieves yesterday who stole 50 feet of copper from the building's guttering .
According Father Leonard Alphonso the crime was discovered after the church was flooded, inspection of the building revealed that the guttering had been stripped away.
Alphonso said that he had contacted senior members of the church and a deciision would have to made about what should be done to further secure the building.
Copper thieves have recently robbed several businesses of thousand of dollars of copper and other scrap metal.
