Georgetown : This morning Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmon ruled trade unionists Norris Witter and Lincoln Lewis and social activist Mark Benschop not guilty of the charge of unlawful assembly. The trio was charged on 15th July 2009 when they led a three-man protest in Young Street Georgetown to express concerns over the lawlessness and rights violations under the PPP-led administration. The trio said they believed the charge was a deliberate effort by the government to make them an example and drive fear into others to suppress their right by remaining silent in the midst of wrong doings.
