Crime statistics climbing, but the police force will go down fighting if it has to- Police Commissioner tells officers

Georgetown- Police Commissioner Henry Greene was hyped up in his opening remarks today at the opening of the annual officer's conference under the them: "Consolidating our Gains through Effective Strategic Planning & Institutional Modernisation fro Safer Communities". Greene said that the crime figure up to the ending of February shows a 9 percent increase. " We will review why this is so and determine what to do to maintain a lid on criminal activities, we will keep fighting to the end". Alluding to the many unlicensed firearms in the hands of criminals, the top cop said; "We have to examine and find ways to stop a most difficult problem which is to stem the many firearms coming through the borders and helping to build a serious crime wave". Only last year 109 illegal firearms were found which is mostly responsible for the gang violence. The Commissioner said that following the death of the infamous Rondell Rawlins called "Fineman", there was a sudden rise in gang violence, but the police manage to put a stop to it for awhile, until they resurfaced in 2009 shooting up police outpost across the country. Then during last year, through good intelligence, the Colin Jones gang that  set fire to Government offices and committed several murders was caught and members of the gang are in custody. Turning to traffic, Commissioner Greene said; "We manage to bring down the figures of road violations and deaths with the effective use of radar guns and breathalysers". He added that  the traffic department recognized that road users are more responsible now, either by the rigorous traffic campaign by the law enforcement agency or fear of the penalties. The top cop said; "Our work is to ensure that we satisfy the citizens and show them we want to work in ensuring their security". Currently there are 80 ranks before the courts for bribery, unmannerly behavior and other breaches of the law. The Commissioner said that the conference will seek to address, review and resolve issues affecting members of the force, and examine the force's accountability in the field of operation.
