Georgetown: At about 1 a.m today, vendor Walter Drak, of Smyth Street, Georgetown, was riding a bicycle along Croal Street when he was held up by a man armed with two cutlasses.
The perpetrator took away a bag containing confectionery and escaped.
Quick response by the police on receipt of the report, led to the arrest of the suspect at Hadfield Street and the recovery of the stolen articles.
During efforts to arrest him, the suspect attacked the police with the cutlasses and was shot to his legs.
He has given his name as Gully Ross and is under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted for medical treatment.
