Desroy ‘Piggy’ James is first Homicide for 2012

St. Kitts-Nevis: A lone gunman opened fire on Desroy ‘Piggy’ James of Upper Cayon, and his friend while they were walking along a foot path in the village at about 22:30hrs last night, according to a report in the St. Kitts Nevis Observer.

James, who received a bullet wound to his chest and collapsed while trying to run, is the nation’s first homicide of 2012.

The report said that according to police information, “Crime scene technicians and investigators are currently analysing the evidence gathered and information received. Such analysis has resulted in the taking into custody of one juvenile”.

The Federation’s murder toll for 2011 was a record-high of 34.
