Do it yourself for Tomas victims

Bridgetown.

The Government has admitted that it should have provided the public with more money to rebuild houses destroyed by Tropical Storm Tomas in October last year.

Several homes were  ruin during the storm, Government  undertook to do the rebuilding and repairs rather than give homeowners access to funds.

According to Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, people always had the option to Government  and get the money to repair their houses, he has however conceded that the Government should have provided homeowner with more funds.

"It was always open to people to approach Government and say give me the money and we will do it ourselves.Upon reflection, we should have encouraged more people to do it", Brathwaite said.

He made it clear that  there was no partisan approach to the rebuilding of houses.

"All Barbadians who had their homes damaged, I dont care how they vote, as long as we can assist them, I will do it," Brattwaite said.
