Don’t panic says Prime Minister

Bridgetown.

There is no need to panic , that is the message from Prime Minister Freundel Stuart as Barbados continues to experience  the wrost economic recession in the past 50 years.

Delivering the address at the official opening of the Second Barbados Network Consulation held  at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday, Stuart said his Government's response to the economic downturn, has not been an insensitive gut reaction but a thoughtful, carefully planned strategy.

Stuart said part of that strategy was to use the current situation to forge  a new class of entrepreneurs who would use their God given talents to create employment and wealth.

He told the hundreds assembled at the official opening despite the economic pressures, he had chosen not to impose unnecessary suffering on Barbadians and was determined to make well informed and strategic choices in policies and programmes rather than adopt the prevailing economic theory, embarking on a ruthless austerity programme.
