Bridgetown.
A national campaign to encourage Barbadians to drink more milk is being launched soon by the Pine Hill Dairy (PHD) in an attempt to reduce its surplus stock.
CEO of Banks Holdings, the parent company of PHD Richard Cozier, told Trakker News, the dairy is relying on increase local consumption to reduce "a significant" surplus.
"It has been working its way down and it is not at the level it was two weeks ago"Cozier said.
He admitted that it was a challenging time for the dairy, and was optimstic some of the surplus milk would be consumed through the School Meals Service.
The surplus milk has attributed in part to the Pine Hill Dairy's failure to secure markets in CARICOM countries like Trinidad and Jamaica that have been accused of placing trade barriers against PHD products.
