Magistrate Faith Marshall- Harris of the Juvenile Court, says that the use of drugs are prevalence among Barbadian youth.
According to Marshall-Harris, a study of 300 cases held in the Juvenile Court last year, showed that 80 percent of those charged were drug user, exposed to drugs or were involved in drug related incidents
The magistrate expressed grave concern over the nonchalance of some of the youth coming before her,who openly admit to using marijuana when asked in the courtroom.
She added that most of these children are between the ages of 11 and 16 years old.
Magistrate Marshall-Harris, made the comments at a session held for parents by the National Council on Substance Abuse, over the weekend.
