Bridgetown.
More than 1000 cannabis plants were seized in a joint operation by the Drug Squad, the Barbados Defense Force and the Regional Security System over the weekend
The operation took place in Woodland and the Mount in St George, Welches and Cherry Grove in St John and Sterling in St Philip.
At the end of the operation 1382 plants were seized with the majority being found at Woodland.
Inspector David Welch of the Royal Barbados Police Force, told Trakker News, the upsurge in the local cultivation of cannabis maybe due to the strong enforcement measures being taken against the importation of the drug via the sea.
