Berbice : A driver who tried to escape after hitting down and killed an eight year old boy was apprehended and is in hot water.
The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 1540h. yesterday Friday September 14, 2012, on the No.56 Village Public Road, Corentyne, and which resulted in the death of Yoerindra Radhay, 8 years, of No.56 Village, Corentyne.
The police says the driver of motor car PPP 6164 was proceeding along the roadway at No.56 Village Public Road, Corentyne, allegedly at a fast rate, when he lost control of the vehicle and struck down eight year old Yoerindra Radbay who was walking along the roadway.
The driver of the car fled the scene but was arrested at his home shortly after and was found to be over the legal limit in terms of the consumption of alcohol. He is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
