Thousands of Barbadian households were faced with with dry taps and low water pressure yesterday.
Scores were forced to get supplies from water tankers or to visit friends’ homes to bathe as the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) continued to battle equipment failure along with low reservoir levels caused by the prolonged dry season.
Since Friday two rual parishes St Thomas and St Joseph were plagued with low pressure and outages.
Yesterday, several urban areas in St Michael had the same problem when the Waterford Pumping Station’s equipment failed. This resulted in residents of Waterford, Lodge Hill, Cave Hill Eden Lodge, Codrington, Jackson, Hothersal Turning, Rock Dundo, Spooners Hill, Green Hill and the surrounding districts being affected.
Parts of St Joseph, St Thomas and St James continued to be impacted, with low pressure and dry taps due to low water levels at the Golden Ridge Pumping Station in St George.
