Education Minister calls on private schools to follow set curriculum.

Georgetown : Education Minister, Priya Manickchand has stated that the Ministry is insisting that all private schools follow the set curriculum so as to ensure that the students receive the required knowledge and skills they need.

In an effort to ensure that all private schools are on par with the vision of the Education Ministry, the Ministry under the oversight of previous Minister Shaik Baksh had moved to have all private education providers registered. 27 were then approved.
The curriculum guides can be accessed on the Ministry of Education’s website at www.education.gov.gy.
The new Education Legislation which is currently before the Attorney General’s Chambers comprehensively addresses issues governing the operation of private schools. The legislation which embodies modern education reform requires all private schools to obtain a permit to operate. The permits are issued only if certain minimum requirements are met and the schools that are approved by the Ministry of Education will gain automatic permits to operate.
