Education Ministry discovers irregularities in NGSA results of one school in Guyana

Ministry of EducationGeorgetown: It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Education that there were irregularities in the conduct of the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) in a particular school in Region 1 that has affected the integrity of that school’s NGSA results. The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation into the matter. The Ministry is actively considering various options and will make interventions where its paramount consideration will be what is in the best interest of the affected students. The Ministry commits to updating the public with additional information at the conclusion of its investigation. In recent years, The Ministry of Education established a number of quality assurance mechanisms to ensure that examinations and their subsequent results are of the highest integrity. In fact, it was these measures that allowed the Ministry to identify this problem in the affected area and school. No other irregularities were found in any of the other schools in Guyana. The Ministry wishes to assure all stakeholders and members of the public that this irregularity will not be allowed to affect either the integrity or the timely release of the NGSA results. NGSA results are set to be released nationwide on or before Friday June 27, 2014.
